The Reflection House board of directors has carefully considered the availability of alcoholic beverages at our fundraising events. After thoughtful discussion and input from both the board and the wider community, we have decided that no alcohol will be served at any Reflection House-sponsored events.
The mission of Reflection House is to support the success and recovery of women in the Garrett County community. This is achieved through the development and management of a residence and related programs for women in recovery. Our goal is to positively impact the lives of our clients and the broader community. We believe that those in recovery play an essential role in our community, and we remain committed to engaging with, listening to, and supporting them as we fulfill our mission.
While the procurement of significant funding is necessary to support our residence and services, and fundraising events are a key part of this, the board has chosen to prioritize the needs and well-being of those in recovery by eliminating alcohol from all events we sponsor. We will evaluate on a case by case basis our participation in a community event where alcohol is being served. We believe this decision is in the best interest of our mission, ensuring that our events promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for everyone.
The Reflection House board recognizes that this decision may not align with the preferences of all potential attendees or donors, but we believe it is the most responsible path forward in honoring our commitment to recovery. Our fundraising efforts will continue to focus on providing impactful, enjoyable, and educational events that align with our core values and mission.
In short, the board of directors of Reflection House has committed to hosting alcohol-free events, ensuring that we remain focused on fostering a safe and supportive space for individuals in recovery and the broader community. We will continue to evaluate our strategies and adjust as needed to best serve the community and uphold our mission.
